DIRECTORS

Cody Brooks is excited to come to Pine Valley Middle School and inspire students to achieve at a high level in and out of music. Mr. Brooks spent his last 8 years as an assistant director at Ulrich Int. and Krimmel Int. in Klein ISD. Mr. Brooks will be teaching the Wind Ensemble, Beginner Trumpet, Beginner French Horn, Beginner Trombone, and Beginner Tuba/Euphonium.

Mr. Brooks earned his Bachelors degree from Sam Houston State University (Eat 'em up) where he was a member of the Tuba/Euphonium ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Concert Choir, and Bearkat Marching band. While a member of the Marching Band, Mr. Brooks served as drum major for 2 years.

Mr. Brooks' professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmaster Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

Mr. Brooks lives with his wife, Jennie, who is an elementary music teacher in Tomball ISD, their two boys CJ and James, and dogs Shasta and Jasmine.

Weston Quintana is a cum laude graduate from Sam Houston State University, and is in his 5th year of teaching in New Caney ISD. Mr. Quintana currently serves as the Assistant Band Director at Pine Valley Middle School. His responsibilities include conducting the Symphonic and Concert Bands, assisting with the Wind Ensemble, and teaching sixth-grade beginner woodwind classes. Mr. Quintana also serves as the electives department chair on campus.

While earning his Bachelors degree Mr. Quintana studied clarinet under Dr. Patricia Card where he performed in numerous ensembles, including principal clarinet in the Wind Ensemble, and principal clarinet in the Symphony Orchestra. He also served as the clarinetist for the Sam Houston State University Opera program and held leadership responsibilities in the Bearkat Marching Band. In addition, Mr. Quintana has experience as a music instructor, providing private lessons to intermediate, junior high, and high school students in the North Houston area.

Mr. Quintana is pursuing a Masters of Music at Sam Houston State University, studying instrumental conducting under Dr. Matthew McInturf. His professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and the International Clarinet Association.
